The Business Platinum Card from American Express is once again advertising "as high as 300,000 Membership Rewards points" as its welcome offer, after $20,000 in spend in the first three months. That's the same top-line number Amex has dangled (on and off) since 2024, and it's the highest publicly advertised number on any Amex personal or small-business card right now.
Here's the part everyone misses: this offer has been the public offer for months. You don't need a referral, a CardMatch hit, or an incognito tab. It's on the application page. The "as high as" wrapper means Amex will run a soft pull, look at your profile, and either show you the full 300K or something less (most recently 250K or 170K) before any hard pull hits your credit. You can walk away if the number is below your threshold.
The Offer in One Paragraph
300,000 Membership Rewards points after $20,000 in eligible spend within the first three cardmember months. Annual fee: $895. Welcome-offer eligibility excludes anyone who has held this card (or a previous version) and earned a welcome bonus on it, Amex enforces this on a roughly 5-to-7-year lookback. Apply, see the soft-pull offer, accept or back out. Standard Amex 2/90 application rule applies: no more than two new Amex credit cards in the last 90 days. Charge cards don't count against the 2/90.
What 300K Is Actually Worth
At a conservative 1.8 cents per point for premium-cabin redemptions through transfer partners (ANA, Air France-KLM Flying Blue, Virgin Atlantic), 300K is around $5,400 of travel value. Push that to 2.2 cents and it's $6,600. The $20K spend hurdle and the $895 fee net out: you're paying roughly $895 for ~$5,400 in redemption value plus first-year credits (Dell, wireless, hotel, CLEAR, plus the new ChatGPT Business credit that landed in spring 2026). Worth it only if you can route $20K through the card without buying things you wouldn't otherwise buy.
What to Do Right Now
Pull up the Business Platinum application page on a private window. Click through to the offer-check step. The soft pull shows your specific number, if it's 300K, the deal is real for you; if it's 170K or 200K, you can either accept the lower offer or close the tab and try again in a few weeks. The "as high as" structure means the headline isn't a guarantee, but it also isn't a bait-and-switch, Amex tells you what you'll get before any hard inquiry.
If you've held the card before and earned a bonus on it within the last five years, the welcome-offer eligibility check will flag you mid-application and let you withdraw with no hard pull. Don't skip that check.
